Following the sound advice of Mahatma Gandhi, it is the main aim of the Culture Section of the English Society to investigate the heart and soul of the people of Britain and America - and other English speaking countries too. Culture is a multi-faceted aspect of humanity, and we seek not only to learn for our own self-enrichment, but also to share our passion with others. As a reflection of the breadth and richness of English culture, our Section’s interests hold no bounds, ranging from such traditional avenues of research such as film and music to cutting edge fields including modern cultural diversity and the impact of technology on humanity and our place in the contemporary world. Our current activities include a film discussion group, fascinating lectures, thematic celebrations of some of the more diverse national celebrations from the English-Speaking world, and regular workshops for school pupils.
